Walter Richardson, in the early 1920’s started a test plot of Dates. We still harvest the trees to this day. We just need a really big forklift.
We process the dates in a low and slow high humid cooker to bring out all their natural sugar.

I did not remember that dates are still harvested on the Richardson place. Do you know what your variety(s) is (are)? This information could be of interest to me, especially if you have that big forklift that might let one examine the emerging new fronds up there on top. I’m guessing the trees have no pups (offshoots) available for a look.
